Avalon Bar & Nightclub is located in a 1946 art deco building which served as the American Legion Post 61 for about sixty years. Not much to look at from the outside, the interior has been lavishly transformed with yards of fabric, neon, & sound system into a fairly impressive club. The nightclub is divided into two rooms, both featuring two full bars plus another bar on the outdoor patio. Drinks range from $3-$6, but figure on the high end. A flashy club, in the style of a San Francisco venue such as Club NV, Avalon offers a range of DJ dance music including house, rock, salsa, vintage hip hop, R&B, & 80's classics; occasionally, concerts and performances are booked. In the club's larger room, house music blasts while in the smaller space the "Ultra Lounge" the vibe is much more Latin based. Dancers will love the Ultra Lounge's clean cherrywood floor with banquette seating on the perimeter.
True to its aspirations of being a city style club, Avalon offers "private" booths at an exorbitant price
essentially, they've got booth seating on stage and on the periphery that you can pay about $250+ for the privilege of using. For your booth reservation, you get free admission for yourself and guests, which varies depending upon the level of service you request, e.g. VIP, Ultra VIP, or Stage Booth. A bottle of top shelf + mixers, no waiting in line, personal host & waitress, sofa booth, & included server gratuity are included in the booth fee. The booth price probably isn't too unreasonable when you add up the cost of everything that's included, and the line definitely can get a bit long for a Sacramento club!
Used to be called "Elements" was painted blood red and had the slogan "The Club You Crave" until two people got shot out in front in march of 2004. source
Admission is $10 before 10pm and $15 after. Free parking is available on street and behind the club.
